FAQs

What can I expect in a counseling session?

Individual sessions usually lasts 50-60 minutes, although longer sessions might be considered useful. Group Counseling can be up to 2 and a half hours. Family Group sessions are generally 2 hours. For the therapy to "work," you must be an active participant, both during and between the therapy sessions.

What benefits can I expect from working with a counselor?

A number of benefits are available from participating. Often it is helpful just to know that someone understands. Counseling can provide a fresh perspective on a difficult problem or point you in the direction of a solution. The benefits you obtain from counseling depend on how well you use the process and put into practice what you learn.

Do you accept insurance?

There is a confusing array of insurance arrangements. The first thing you should do is check with your insurance carrier. Check your coverage carefully. Do you have mental health benefits? How many sessions per calendar year does your plan cover? What is your deductible?

Then ask a Prairie View representative. We are a provider for a growing list of insurance companies. We will process your claims and keep you informed on the progress. In recent times insurance carrier coverages have been changing.

Do you accept Medicaid?

Yes. We process Medicaid claims weekly. Bring you Medicaid card with you for the initial screening and we take it from there.

Are there any other sources of financial assistance?

Many of our clients are eligible for assistance due to income levels. Many families are surprised to learn that when considering the number of children in the family, fixed expenses and other variables they qualify for assistance. All you have to do is ask and we will process the forms with you.
