THANK YOU Everyone for a VERY Successful 2018 Celebrating Families.

Once again the Celebrating Families event was heald at the St. Joseph School at the Cathedral.

The 2018  Celebrating Families turnout was higher in 2018 with aproximately $12,000 in socks and underwear given to 1,000 area youth. The 28 vendors in attendance were nearly overwhelmed by the crowd of over 1,300 people who came for the morning. We served over 1,000 free lunches!

We also want to thank the donors, volunteers and vendors for making this so successful. Over 30% of the items given away were donated in our drop boxes at the Lewis and Shopko Stores, the rest was purchased with financial donations from area businesses and individuals. Special thank you must be given to KNWC for making Celebrating Families their Hands and Feet project for August and KELO TV for producing and airing the ads for the event.

THANK YOU Everyone for a VERY Successful 2017 Celebrating Families.

The new location for Celebrating Families for 2017 was St. Joseph school at the Cathedal.

The 2017 Celebrating Families turnout was slightly less attended this year with aproximately $10,000 in socks and underwear given to 800 area youth. The 25 vendors in attendance were nearly overwhelmed by the crowd of over 1,100 people who came for the morning. We served over 900 free lunches!

We are Returning to the                     The Washigton Pavilion!

The Washington Pavilion is located in downtown Sioux Falls and has plenty of room for all of our activities. The Pavilion staff has been incredible to work with and we encourage you to come and share in this great experince.

We will be announcing the date for the 2017 Celebrating Families event in the coming days.

Thank you for joining us for Celebrating Familes in 2015

Lat year we serve over 1,700 people and gave away over $7,000 in donated socks and underwear to families who truly appreciate the help! We also served over 1,000 free meals - it was great.

This Back to School Fair gives families new to the area, and those who have been here, a one-stop-shop for information on essential services in the Sioux Falls area. You will find everything from a simple health screening and what's new at the Zoo and the Fire Department Smoke House. Over 30 service providers will be on site to provide information on all of their services. AND IT'S ALL FREE!

Youth will receive a package of socks and underwear (our goal is to have enough funds to provide BOTH to each child). Seems simple but it's one of those things not usually on your back-to-school list. While supplies last we give each child (there with a parent) a package of their choice. If we receive enough donations - maybe they can get one of each.

Last year over 1,200 attended - over 1,000 children! We served over 1,000 hotdogs with chips pop and cookies and we ran out! We will have MORE food this year.

Doors open at 9:30 am at the Washington Pavilion in downtown Sioux Falls. We are always done by 1:00 so plan your day around the event.

If you desire to donate, we ask that all socks and underwear are youth sizes, new in the package. All Lewis Drug Stores and Shopko Stores are drop off points for the donations or you can bring them to our office. Many churches and other organizations participate as well. Or, we do accept monetary donations which go directly to purchase the items to be given away. CHECKS should be written to Dakota Drug and Alcohol Prevention (501c3) or Celebrating Families.
